I love working with clients struggling with anxiety - specifically in relationships and career. Aren’t relationships and career where we focus most of our time and energy? I love helping people learn what they want and deserve from their relationships and jobs. I know what it’s like to explore these two in my own journey and am no stranger to change. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, lost, and unfulfilled, yet afraid to make a change.
Maybe you don't know where to start or what you want to do. But that feeling of being stuck or unfulfilled doesn’t go away and it shows up in other ways - anxiety, isolating, feeling off, anger, letting ourselves go, and settling for less than what we want and deserve from our life.
I work best with people who are ready and motivated for change - people so tired of hearing themselves complain and are ready to work.
Wondering what I’m like in sessions? My personality is warm, funny, and genuine. I will challenge you and call you out when needed. I will teach you tools and expect you to try them outside of sessions. I will encourage and support you. I am not afraid to discuss any topic and we can switch gears any time. I’ve been doing this a long time so don’t worry about shocking me. The more honest you are, the more quickly you will feel relief.
Am I qualified to help you? Yes, and I am good at my job. Here is my background:
I have twelve years experience in the counseling field. My master’s degree in counseling was earned in 2005 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In 2011, I graduated from the University of New Orleans with a doctorate in counseling. My dissertation was on Walk and Talk therapy, one of my specialty services.
Fresh out of my master’s program, I relocated to New York and was a supervisor at a residential mental health program for individuals with chronic mental illness and addiction. Upon coming home to New Orleans, I worked at an in-home crisis counseling program with families in danger of losing custody of their children. I worked in academic and student affairs at the University of New Orleans during my PhD and for two years afterwards. I've worked at a group private practice in Metairie. In 2013, I founded Walk and Talk Nola. I’ve worked with children, adults, couples and families of all backgrounds experiencing a variety of issues.
Now my passion is helping women and men in their mid-to-late 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. My ideal client is someone driven, independent, and motivated to change their life for the best.
